Zinedine Zidane turns down approach from United States national team – Get French Football News

[ad_1]

L’Équipe have reported information coming from ESPN that France legend Zinedine Zidane has turned down an approach from the United States men’s national team. It was reported that the American federation recently approached the former Real Madrid manager, and that it was “politely declined” via the intermediary of Zidane’s agent, Alain Migliaccio.

Gregg Berhalter led the US team into the 2022 World Cup, but was suspended following revelations made by former teammate Claudio Reyna including 30-year old accusations of domestic abuse against Berhalter’s current wife Rosalind. These revelations were allegedly given to the American federation via Reyna. Former assistant manager Anthony Hudson is set to lead USA into their friendly matches against Serbia and Colombia at the end of January.

It was long reported from various sources that Zinedine Zidane would have been in line for the France job in the case that Didier Deschamps’ contract with Les Bleus was not extended. However, it was announced yesterday that the 54-year old would extend his stay with France until 2026.
