Speaking in a press conference today, Bayern Munich sporting director Hasan Salihamidzic revealed that discussions had been ongoing with French defender Benjamin Pavard (26), and that he would like to see the player remain at the Bundesliga side. The following was transcribed by L’Équipe.

The Bosnian sporting director revealed that he has had conversations with the player, and that despite having “different goals”, that Bayern Munich “wants to achieve something” with Pavard in the side.

He then said that “Benji is a very important player for us. He has a role to play at Bayern. I think, and he told me, he feels very good here and we will try to succeed together.”

This was preceded by an admission that “whether Pavard is in contact with other clubs or not, I don’t care.”

The France international has played on 13 occasions in the Bundesliga this season, with one goal to his name. In European competition, Pavard has played six matches and scored two goals, coming off the back of what was a disappointing World Cup campaign for the Frenchman, who did not feature following his calamitous display against Australia in the opening match.
