Speaking to the press ahead of the opening of the January transfer window, Lyon manager Laurent Blanc spoke of his desire to bring in players in the new year, and without naming names revealed that he is after ‘experienced’ player profiles with ‘character’ and ‘aggression’. The following was transcribed by RMC Sport.
Blanc said that he hopes to bring in recruits as quick as possible in order to integrate them easier into the squad, saying that “I hope we do it soon, we all hope so” but highlighting “it’s easy to say but there is competition” and that “If you go through the transfer window taking players o 29th or 30th January, there will have been matches played beforehand”. Blanc then finished off by saying “everyone will be doing the same [looking for early signings] so we’ll wait and see what happens.”
The former France and PSG manager then revealed his ideal profile of player to bring in, “I won’t give names, theres no need to insist. We want experience, character and aggression. These are the ingredients that I’d like to bring into the group.”
