L’Équipe report that FC Nantes are considering a move for Aston Villa midfielder Morgan Sanson (28), although the Frenchman’s wage demands could prove problematic.
As reported earlier this week by Foot Mercato, Sanson is keen on a return to Ligue 1. He has only featured once this season, coming on for one minute against Manchester United in early November. Consequently, he is looking to leave Aston Villa, currently 11th in the Premier League, and former Montpellier midfielder Sanson favours a move to France.
Various options are being explored, including a move to FC Nantes, who after winning the Coupe de France last season, are still competing in the Europa League. However, Les Canaris are struggling domestically, and Antoine Kombouaré is keen to strengthen his midfield.
L’Équipe believe, however, that Sanson’s wage could be an issue. The player is currently earning €350,000 a month at Aston Villa, although Sanson would potentially take a financial hit in order to facilitate discussions.
