Why can’t PSG loan players this January? – Get French Football News

[ad_1]

As Paris Saint-Germain midfielder Pablo Sarabia nears a move to Wolverhampton Wanderers, L’Equipe are reporting that the Ligue 1 leaders are unable to loan any more players during this winter transfer window, and for a very simple reason. FIFA rules state that a club can’t loan more than eight players aged 21 or more in a season. PSG have already reached this quota.

Colin Dagba (Strasbourg), Layvin Kurzawa (Fulham), Abdou Diallo (Leipzig), Georginio Wijnaldum (AS Roma), Ander Herrera (Athletic Bilbao), Leandro Paredes (Juventus), Julian Draxler (Benfica) and Mauro Icardi (Galatasaray) are the eight PSG loanees this season. And unless one of those loanees is sold by their parent club, PSG can’t loan players anymore during this winter transfer window.

As PSG look to offload some of its fringe players in order to reduce their ever-growing wage bill, Les Parisiens can only sell them for now. But they are struggling to do so. L’Équipe claim that experienced goalkeeper Keylor Navas is set to stay in the French capital until the end of the season with no negotiations having taken place. Few clubs have shown any interest in the 36-year-old Costa Rican shot-stopper.
