Warren Zaïre-Emery becomes PSG’s youngest-ever starter – Get French Football News

Having been named in the lineup for the Coupe de France tie against Châteauroux, Paris Saint-Germain midfield prospect Warren Zaïre-Emery became the club’s youngest player ever to start a match, at 16 years and 10 months old.

The French U19 international notably impressed in the first half with his ball carrying, even if he was partly at fault for the opposition’s equaliser. PSG would eventually run out 3-1 winners, with Calos Soler and Juan Bernat netting late on as the third-tier side were finally broken down after a stoic defensive effort against the Ligue 1 leaders.

Zaïre-Emery, who was less involved in the second half, has now overtaken former club captain Mamadou Sakho, the defender having made his senior debut for his formative club the day after his 17th birthday. Also among the young players to feature for a rotated PSG side was 18-year-old midfielder Ismaël Gharbi, while defender El Chadaille Bitshiabu – who, at 17, has already featured multiple times in the league – was deployed at centre-back.
