“They take pleasure in mediocrity.” – Get French Football News

Following a home loss against Clermont (0-1) to kick-off 2023 in underwhelming fashion, Lyon supporter groups has released a statement criticising the ‘behaviour‘ of Laurent Blanc’s players on the pitch, pointing the finger of blame at recruitment head Bruno Cheyrou and sporting director Vincent Ponsot. Supporters already met with both chiefs to make them understand that confidence in them was “seriously damaged” in October – as reported by L’Équipe.

Ultra-group Bad Gones and Lyon 1950 criticised OL players, unhappy with “a parade of smug, characterless, soulless guys who take pleasure in mediocrity“, they stated that they would not boycott future matches at the Groupama Stadium. However, this statement “will be the starting point for future actions” as the Lyon supporters promise. They also say that they will be “targeting” people they consider “responsible for the situation“.

Lyon currently sit eighth in Ligue 1, with the latest loss compounding an inconsistent start to life in the Laurent Blanc era. Earlier this season Les Gones went on a run of four defeats in a row – their worst run of form in the top tier for 30 years which led to the sacking of Peter Bosz.
