QSI not focused on acquiring English club – Get French Football News

[ad_1]

According to sources contacted by Get French Football News,  Qatari Sports Investments (QSI) aren’t focused on acquiring an English club, amidst reports linking the Paris Saint-Germain owners with a move for Tottenham Hotspur.

Whilst QSI are looking to establish a multi-club model, their focus is not on England. Get French Football News understands that the PSG owners are instead looking to Belgium and Spain to grow their model. Belgian side K.A.S Eupen is owned by Aspire Zone, which is a Qatari company, but not one that is officially tied to QSI, who are looking at alternative opportunities in Belgium despite this ownership stake.

CBS Sports journalist Ben Jacobs reported over the weekend that Nasser Al-Khelaïfi had held exploratory negotiations with Tottenham owner Daniel Levy, however, it is our understanding that no acquisition talks have taken place between the pair, who are long-term friends and communicate regularly on wider football issues. That friendship has been strengthened since Al-Khelaïfi’s promotion to president of the UEFA Executive Committee.

Not only are QSI not in active talks over the acquisition of Tottenham, but no talks have also taken place between the Doha-based organisation and any other English side at present. QSI’s multi-club ambitions have already seen the acquisition of a 23% stake in Portuguese side FC Braga.
