Marquinhos sounds the alarm over consecutive away losses for PSG – Get French Football News

[ad_1]

With Paris Saint-Germain falling to their second league defeat in as many weeks against Rennes on Sunday evening, captain Marquinhos faced the press after the match, calling on the team to find their feet again.

The slender loss – the Bretons’ captain Hamari Traoré scored the winner just past the hour mark – means the champions’ lead at the top has now been cut to three points, with Lens and Marseille now breathing down their necks. Rennes, meanwhile, secured a ninth consecutive win at home and have bounced back after defeat to Clermont in midweek.

Marquinhos – speaking to Prime Video and reported by RMC – has pointed out that, after an unbeaten start to the campaign, the league leaders are now starting to drop more points. For the Brazilian international, the team should be stepping up in these tougher away fixtures, where it’s the fine margins that make the difference – particularly given that the visitors had several chances come their way but were unable to convert:

“That’s twice this year, now. We need to find solidity again, and intensity in our duels. It’s the details that make the difference in these matches. They made us pay. We had chances but were unable to score. The points we’ve dropped are starting to add up. These are difficult games, we can’t be losing too many of them or we’ll be in trouble.”
