[ad_1]

Le Parisien report tonight that Paris Saint-Germain captain Marquinhos’ contract extension is set to be wrapped up imminently, days after his fellow Ligue 1 veteran Marco Verratti committing his time at the club for another two years.

Despite the Brazilian defender’s middling performances of late – some shaky showings in domestic action as well disappointment at the World Cup, as he deflected in Croatia’s late equaliser in his country’s quarter-final defeat – PSG are willing to renew new their faith in the 28-year-old.

The talks were first launched by former sporting director Leonardo last season, before his successor Luís Campos moved in the last few weeks to tie down the club’s key figures.

As he closes in on a decade in the French capital, there are still some details left to be ironed out – notably whether his new deal will run until 2026 or 2027, with his current contract expiring at the end of next season.
