Speaking after Olympique de Marseille’s 2-1 win against Montpellier, Igor Tudor has revealed that he will be issuing Nuno Tavares (22) with a “big fine” after his red card.

Tavares, on loan from Arsenal for the entirety of the 2022/23 season, scored Marseille’s opener in Monday’s match. That was his fifth goal of the season for Les Phocéens. However, later in the match, he received a red card after lashing out at Arnaud Souquet. On his way off the field, Tavares gave a ‘2-0’ (the scoreline at the time) signal to the Montpellier fans. Marseille then conceded a penalty in what was a nervy finish for Tudor’s men.

Speaking in a post-match interview with Prime Video SportTudor was highly critical of the left-back, revealing that he will be issuing the player with a fine following the incident. “He has completely lost his mind. He will get a big fine. It will be a lesson to him,” he said.

Tavares, capped on nine occasions by the Portugal U21 side, has featured 22 times for Marseille this season, including six times in the club’s Champions League group stage campaign.
