With his Paris Saint-Germain side no longer unbeaten this season, Christophe Galtier reacted to a sobering loss against a Lens team who outplayed the league leaders and now find themselves just four points short in second place.

The PSG coach lamented the time and space that his players afforded the Sang et Or, and recognised that his players did not deserve to take the three points back to Paris tonight. 

In a frantic opening ten minutes, Przemysław Frankowski struck first for Lens after a well-constructed move saw the hosts switch from wing to wing before a back-post finish from the Pole. Hugo Ekitike then bundled in the equaliser after Brice Samba was unable to hold on to Nordi Mukiele’s ball into the box.

The Artois side’s devastating counter attacking play proved too much to handle for a PSG defence that was decidedly at sea though, as Loïs Openda scored the second with a great individual run before setting up the third for Alexis Claude-Maurice.

“Lens deserve the win, and I had a hard time recognising my team. We conceded due to their strengths – transitions and deep runs. We were lacking in cohesion, we liquefied as the game went on, even though we came back after the first Lens goal. We left a lot of space and made a lot of errors on the ball. There was also the way in which we expressed ourselves in possession, a lot of waste which was surprising from my boys, who aren’t usually like that. At certain points in the match, a lot of cohesion was missing.”
