FFF chief Noël Le Graët to call Zinédine Zidane to apologise for dismissive comments – Get French Football News

Le Parisien report this afternoon that FFF chief Noël Le Graët is set to call up Zinédine Zidane in the next few hours to apologise for his disparaging comments on the former midfielder, in an interview with RMC last night.

The head of French football notably claimed that he did not “give a toss” about where the 1998 World Cup hero’s managerial career would take him next, with Didier Deschamps now confirmed as France manager until 2026. He added that Zidane had not called him, but even if the ex-Real Madrid coach had, he would not have picked up.

His remarks were met with widespread criticism from far and wide, with Kylian Mbappé notably leading the backlash along with a host of former players in Franck Ribéry and Djibril Cissé. There was also pushback within political spheres, with Minister for Sports Amélie Oudéa-Castéra – who has already been in a war of words with Le Graët over an audit into the FFF – calling on him to apologise.
