According to Sébastien Denis of Foot Mercato, a contract extension for French striker Karim Benzema is reportedly ‘imminent‘, with his current deal running until June 2023 and rumours of Al Nassr taking an interest in the player. He is expected to extend his contract until June 2024.
Benzema, who recently retired from international duty with Les Bleus, already expressed his desire to finish his club career with the club – prioritising his role in the Madrid side following what was a difficult World Cup which saw the Ballon d’Or winner miss out on most of the campaign due to to injury. Tensions arose between the France team, Real Madrid, and Benzema’s own team, particularly due to the fact that he played in a friendly match with Real Madrid on December 15th.
In 620 appearances the Frenchman has scored 333 goals since joining the club in 2009, having won five Champions League titles with the current Spanish Champions.
