Foot Mercato are reporting that Chelsea are interested in bringing Leeds United goalkeeper Illan Meslier (22) to Stamford Bridge.
As reported by RMC Sport yesterday, Bayern Munich and Newcastle are also interested in the player, who Leeds, for now, have no intention of selling. The Bundesliga side see Meslier as a replacement for Manuel Neuer, who is out for the season after suffering a leg break. They reported that whilst Chelsea were in the chase to land Meslier, they were further behind the competition. However, Foot Mercato have described Chelsea as a “notable” contender to sign the young French goalkeeper.
The French publication adds that Leeds may find it difficult to retain the former Lorient player, despite Meslier having a contract that runs until 2026. He could become one of the attractions of the transfer window, although, as RMC report, Leeds will find it difficult to replace the France youth international this winter. There is no indication how much Meslier would cost his potential suitors.
