Chelsea enter race to sign Marcus Thuram – Get French Football News

[ad_1]

Foot Mercato are reporting that Chelsea have entered the race to sign Borussia Mönchengldbach striker Marcus Thuram (25), whose contract with the Bundesliga side expires in the summer.

Given that Thuram only has six months remaining on his current contract, he could be available for a cut-price deal. The former OGC Nice forward is attracting interest from across Europe. L’Équipe have linked the striker with a move to Bundesliga rivals Bayern Munich, as well as Premier League side Aston Villa.

Recently, it was revealed in La Repubblica that Manchester United were favourites to land the player. Thuram is currently the second-highest scorer in the Bundesliga, and he showed his capabilities on the biggest stage after being called up to represent France at the World Cup in Qatar and featuring for Les Bleus in the World Cup final defeat to Argentina.

Foot Mercato now reveal that the first team to make a move could be Chelsea, who are prepared to spend big in the winter transfer window in order to get their stuttering campaign back on track. The Premier League side are very interested in Thuram and could make their move this January. The Blues have already signed Benoît Badiashile (21) from AS Monaco. It is not yet known whether Thuram favours a January move, or whether he would prefer to see the season out with Mönchengldbach.
