Deigo Simeone will be unable to use his preferred defensive configuration for Atlético Madrid’s game against Almería tomorrow afternoon, report Marca.
Last weekend Atlético Madrid suffered a 1-0 defeat at the hands of Barcelona at the Estadio Metropolitano, which saw Stefan Savić receive a red card in the second minute of extra-time. The Montenegrin’s dismissal means that he will be forced to miss two matches in La Liga, including the one tomorrow.
José María Giménez, Simeone’s other first-choice centre-back, has been struggling with an injury and did not train with the rest of the group today.
Thus, the Argentine coach will most likely have to resort to playing Axel Witsel in defence. Felipe, who the club have been trying to offload for the last couple of weeks, may also feature.
Yannick Carrasco is currently sidelined with an injury, meaning he will not play in today’s game either.
