Aleksandr Golovin’s agent reveals Premier League interest in the Monaco midfielder

Speaking to championnat.com, Aleksandr Golovin’s (26) agent has revealed that there is interest in the AS Monaco midfielder but didn’t rule out remaining at the Principality club this summer. 

Golovin is enjoying his best season with Monaco since his €30m arrival back in the summer of 18. In 41 appearances in all competitions, the Russian playmaker has seven goals and has registered eight assists. That form is seemingly catching the eyes of other clubs, who have registered an interest with the player’s agent, Aleksandr Klyuev. 

“We’re calm on this topic,” said Klyuev, in an interview with championnat.com, transcribed by La Diagonale. “Gologin shows his level in every session and every match. There is interest and there are offers, but there is also the management. We don’t know how other clubs are negotiating with Monaco. When we know that clubs have come to an agreement, we’ll make a decision,” he continued.

Specifically, Golovin’s agent has revealed that there is interest from the Premier League. Klyuev reveals that West Ham United and Everton have both made approaches to sign the Russian international, but the players wants to play in European competition. 

Newcastle, who look set to feature in the Champions League next season also made an approach in January, according to the player’s agent. “Yes, there was a serious interest. There was an offer, and we were ready to discuss it if the clubs reached an agreement. We have understood that Newcastle, with the arrival of serious investors, is an interesting perspective,” he said. 

Klyuev also revealed that Dortmund have long since been interested in the player. Golovin, however, could yet stay at Monaco next season, even if the team look likely to miss out on Champions League football. He said that staying at Monaco “wouldn’t be the worst of options.” He added, “We are happy to play for Monaco. We want to reach our objectives with this team.”
