Usama Mir’s spellbinding bowling secures victory for Manchester Original

Pakistan all-rounder, Usama Mir, showcased a mesmerizing bowling performance that played a crucial role in Manchester Originals’ thrilling victory over Northern Superchargers in Sunday’s match of The Hundred Men’s Competition 2023.

After electing to bat first, Manchester Originals faced a challenging start, finding themselves at a score of 110 for the loss of six wickets. 

However, Jamie Overton emerged as the standout performer, as he played an unbeaten innings of 83 runs off just 30 deliveries, propelling the Originals to a commanding total of 182 runs after losing six wickets in the first innings.

During the chase, the Superchargers charged ahead right from the beginning, amassing a score of 49 runs while losing only one wicket in the initial 26 deliveries of the match.

However, the Northern team found themselves completely stifled by Usama Mir’s bowling prowess. He dismissed their top four batters, exerting immense pressure on the opposition while they were attempting to chase the target.

The 27-year-old played a pivotal role in securing the crucial dismissals of Tom Banton (12), Matthew Short (37), Harry Brook (20), and Adam Rose (5).

The leg-break bowler, delivered a spell that turned the tide of the match in favor of his team.

He completed his spell of 20 deliveries with remarkable figures, as he picked up four wickets, conceding only 19 runs at a remarkable RPB of 0.95. 

Thanks to this exceptional display of bowling prowess, the Northern Superchargers found themselves restricted to a total of 141 runs, losing nine wickets in the final innings and it ultimately paved the way for an emphatic victory for the Manchester Originals, with a convincing margin of 40 runs.
