Bundesliga transfer window: What deals could still be done?

[ad_1]

The new season may have started, but the summer transfer window doesn’t close in the Bundesliga until 1st September at 18:00, so there is still a week in which business can still be conducted. Players could leave, late new signings could come in. Here’s the state of play for the 18 Bundesliga clubs…

Bayern Munich

Much of Bayern’s potential engagement with the market will depend heavily on the futures of Benjamin Pavard and Ryan Gravenberch. The French right back has made it clear he wants to leave and join Inter, but at this late stage in the window, Bayern are understandably reluctant. Possible rumoured replacements are Trevoh Chalobah from Chelsea and Feyenoord’s Lutsharel Geertruida. A move for Armel Bella-Kotchap has also been mooted.

Thomas Tuchel has been stressing all summer about his desire for a new defensive midfielder and any movement on the Gravenberch to Liverpool/ Manchester United front could see him get his wish. The signing of Daniel Peretz has at least solved their goalkeeping conundrum.

Borussia Dortmund

Financial constraints mean any Dortmund activity would need to be withing their budget as they have already spent much of the Jude Bellingham money. A defender and an alternative forward are the areas the club are looking at with Armel Bella-Kotchap and Jean-Philippe Mateta two names being linked with a return from England.

Trying to shift on Thorgan Hazard is proving problematic, while Thomas Meunier’s injury will put off bids for the Belgian full back. Mathieu Morey could be another player touted around in the final week of the window.

RB Leipzig

Leipzig completed most of their business early on and their main task in the remaining week of the window is to ward off any potential approaches for key man Dani Olmo. Lukas Klostermann had been linked with a move to Bayen, but that seems to be a no-go now.

Union Berlin

The blockbuster transfer of Italian defender Leonardo Bonucci is still a remote possibility for Union. He is 36 years of age, so no spring chicken, but he would bring immense experience. Having been burnt last season with the Isco speculation, Union fans won’t be getting too carried away just yet.

There should be some movement amongst Urs Fischer’s strikers with Mikkel Kaufmann being lined-up for a loan move away, but Sheraldo Becker is also going to be a player attracting attention in the coming days. The future of goalkeeper Frederik Rönnow also remains uncertain with Lazio still reportedly interested in the Dane.

Freiburg

Sturm Graz midfielder Alexander Prass is a name currently being linked with the Breisguaer while Leeds United’s Wilfried Gnonto is also a faint rumour following the English side’s relegation. On the departure front, Kilian Sildillia could be the target of clubs following his impressive season last year.

Bayer Leverkusen

The Werkself are said to extremely close to a deal to sign winger Nathan Tella from Southampton for €20 million. Nadiem Amiri’s future however still remains unclear with the player seemingly turning down a move to Leeds. Marseille are also in the frame, but time is running out. Piero Hincapié is reportedly on Liverpool’s radar despite Jürgen Klopp’s insistence that he is happy with his defensive options. Sardar Azmoun to Roma seems a done deal. Jonathan Tah will also be linked with a move right up until the clock hits 18:00 on Friday.

Eintracht Frankfurt

The big question for Frankfurt remains the future of Randal Kolo Muani. It seems inevitable that the French striker will make the switch to PSG, but until the deal is signed, you can never say never to a possible stay. Hugo Ekitiké could be an arrival from Paris as part of any deal as could right back Timothée Pembélé. The name of Niclas Füllkrug will also be high on the transfer radar in the instance that Kolo Muani departs.

St. Etienne left back Niels Nkounkou is a rumoured link as is Brazilian goalkeeper Kauã Santos from Flamengo.

VfL Wolfsburg

Another striker remains a target for the Wölfe with Bologna’s Sydney van Hooijdonk a prime target. Other options could be Hee-chan Hwang from Wolverhampton Wanderers in switch from one Wolf-based team to another.

Mainz

Having signed both Marco Richter (Hertha Berlin) and Philipp Mwene (PSV) this week, Mainz might not be that involved in the remaining week of the transfer window. Anton Stach is however a name attracting some interest with Borussia Mönchengladbach and Atalanta being linked. Suat Serdar was reportedly a target but Mainz look to have lost out there.

Borussia Mönchengladbach

Wantaway defender Nico Elvedi looks set to sign for Sevilla and get his wish to depart the Borussia Park. Manu Koné could also attract some late bids despite being out injured at the moment. There are a few names being banded around with regards incoming transfers. Defensive midfielders Boubacar Traoré from Wolves and Batista Mendy from Angers and even US striker Jordan from Union could be on their way to the Foals.

Köln

After signing Faride Alidou on loan from Frankfurt, the Billy Goats look to have finished their dealings this summer. They need to be wary of possible late moves for their midfielder Dejan Ljubicic.

Hoffenheim

Angelo Stiller is apparently a done deal to VfB Stuttgart. There is a little reported interest in US striker Brandon Vazquez from Cincinnati, while free agent Tanguy Coulibaly could be an option after his release from Stuttgart.

Werder Bremen

Niclas Füllkrug is the main topic of conversation at the Weser Stadion at the moment. Once the market starts moving elsewhere the domino effect will kick in and bids will no doubt start to arrive. The club must be resigned to the fact that losing their top scorer is a real possibility. Left back Fodé Ballo-Touré is a name being linked with Werder, but it appears he’s not keen on being offloaded by the Serie A side.

VfL Bochum

It is all very quiet on the Bochum transfer front, with all their business apparently already signed, sealed and delivered.

Augsburg

The future of striker Mergim Berisha is still up in the air with the club very open about the fact they would accept offers for the German international forward. As it stands he is still an Augsburg player, but things can change very quickly in the final week of the window. In fact, many players would be potential candidates for sale at the right price.

Toulouse’s Danish defender Mikkel Desler is a name being linked with a move to the WWK Arena as is DeJuan Jones from MLS side New England.

VfB Stuttgart

The Swabians have already lost a number of key first-teamers this summer and the exodus could yet be over. Borna Sosa will continue to attract interest and it would be highly surprising to see the Croatian still at the Mercedes Benz Arena at the end of next week. Serhou Guirassy has seemingly confirmed his future with the club despite interest from elsewhere, while Kristijan Jakic could be a potential arrival from Eintracht Frankfurt to compensate for the loss of Wataru Endo.

Heidenheim

A move for St. Pauli defender Jakov Medic seems to off the table, and it could be a quiet week regarding ins and outs for the newcomers.

Darmstadt

The arrival of Luca Pfeiffer seems to have put a lid on Darmstadt’s dealings this summer and coach Torsten Lieberknecht is going to have to work with what he as got as he seeks survival in the Bundesliga.
